The renowned artist Peter Zaumseil from Elsterberg in the Vogtland region turns 65. The well-known ceramist Ludwig Laser from Berga celebrates his 60th. Together they give an extensive insight into their work at Posterstein Castle. The art exhibition shows painting, woodcuts and graphics, sculptures and ceramics.

The photographer Karlheinz Rothenberger from Landshut captured landscapes shaped by the DDR mining company WISMUT in impressive photographs. Thirty years after the end of uranium mining in Ronneburg, the photo exhibition shows the former opencast mining sites, recultivation through BUGA 2007 to the present day situation.

Every year in Advent, the Museum Burg Posterstein shows its traditional Christmas crib exhibition in the atmospheric rooms of the Posterstein Castle.
This year’s exhibition put the focus particularly on cribs from South America and other distant regions. Of course, native cribs will also be on display.

Museum Burg Posterstein will commemorate the illustrator Christian Anton Goering (1836-1905). Although he was the son of a craftsman he succeeded in a career as an explorer, painter and animal preparator. Like Alexander von Humboldt before he went on two expeditions to South America (1856 and 1866) and conducted botanical and geographic studies.

The exhibition shows Art objects made of wax and dust, collected in Posterstein Castle, by the German artist Wolfgang Stöcker from Cologne. Dust reflects transience, human traces in history, preservation or loss of the past, new life for hidden remains – a metaphor for the hard labour of archivists, librarians and museum professionals as well!

In the historical setting of Posterstein Castle we show the unusual ceramic art of Angelika Kühn from Hintzenstern from Kühdorf near Greiz. The ceramist celebrates the 45th anniversary of her workshop in 2017. She produces her objects and reliefs without a traditional pottery disc. In her own technique, she combines her objects from large, rolled plates.
