Exhibition: Fascinating monumental trees
Datum + Uhrzeit: 28.01.2024 - 25.08.2024, ganztags / all day
Ort: Museum Burg Posterstein's gallery
Regardless of whether it is 1000 years old or not quite yet, the Nöbdenitz Oak, with the grave of a minister in its roots, is unique. The special exhibition “The man under the 1000-year-old oak – about dealing with fascinating monumental trees” introduces the Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg minister Hans Wilhelm von Thümmel and his grave under the 1000-year-old oak in Nöbdenitz. Furthermore, we want to ask the question: What does it take that trees are able to live such a long time?
A photo gallery tells the stories of 39 impressive oak trees from all over Europe – including France, the UK, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and the Czech Republic. More than 40 dedicated tree lovers provided us with their photos and further information – among them forestry scientists, artists, members of associations, museum colleagues, tourism experts and photographers.
The exhibition is bilingual, in German and English.
